Akmal Accuses Nga Kor Ming Of Hypocrisy Over Johor Appointed Assemblymen Issue

Date:

Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has accused DAP deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming of being inconsistent and hypocritical over his opposition to Johor’s proposal to introduce appointed state assemblymen.

Akmal said Nga’s criticism of the move contradicted Pakatan Harapan’s previous acceptance of appointed assemblymen in other states, including Pahang and Sabah.

He questioned why the DAP leader was now opposing the proposal in Johor when similar arrangements involving PH representatives had previously been accepted elsewhere.

Akmal claimed the stance taken by the Teluk Intan MP appeared politically motivated ahead of upcoming elections, adding that the public should judge leaders who supported a policy in one state but rejected it in another.

The criticism came after Nga reportedly described Johor’s move to create five appointed state assemblyman positions as being contrary to the Federal Constitution following the passing of the bill in the Johor State Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

Nga also announced that Pakatan Harapan would soon launch a signature campaign among Johor residents to oppose the proposal.

Responding to the matter, Akmal urged the public to see what he described as double standards in political positions, saying leaders should remain consistent regardless of location or political interest.
