Businessman Albert Tei has insisted that the address on his identity card is registered in Negeri Sembilan, dismissing a statement by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook, who had suggested that he should update his address if he intends to contest in the Negeri Sembilan state election.
Albert, whose full name is Tei Jiaan Chewing, 37, said he was surprised by the remarks and argued that the politician should have verified the facts before making public statements.
He maintained that his listed address in Taman Seremban Jaya, Seremban, clearly establishes his ties to the state and said there was no basis for questioning his eligibility on that ground.
The businessman also urged caution against making premature assumptions, stressing the importance of accuracy in political statements.
In a more pointed remark, Albert referenced current political dynamics and hinted at bringing issues linked to the Sabah state election into Negeri Sembilan, while referring to past electoral outcomes.
He further claimed that he had held preliminary discussions with the leadership of a political coalition and did not rule out joining a party in the near future.
Albert also expressed interest in contesting the Chennah state seat, currently held by Anthony Loke, if given the opportunity.
Previously, he had not dismissed the possibility of entering the Negeri Sembilan state election race, following encouragement from his supporters on social media.
