A senior leader of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has urged Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar to take a more active role in managing the coalition ahead of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said the requirement for approval from the PN chairman for any activity or meeting under the coalition’s name would only be effective if the leadership role is properly executed.
He claimed that issues within PN risk persisting if the chairman continues to be perceived as not fully performing his responsibilities.
Tun Faisal said the coalition faces internal matters that must be addressed urgently as it prepares for the upcoming state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.
He added that the PN chairman should be convening key meetings such as seat negotiations, election preparations, and coalition coordination sessions instead of allowing unresolved issues to linger.
He further stated that failure to hold such discussions could lead to speculation and uncertainty regarding the coalition’s direction.
Tun Faisal also criticised the handling of internal matters, suggesting that attention should be focused on strengthening the coalition rather than managing external political issues.
He stressed that the ongoing tensions between PAS and Bersatu should be resolved before the nomination process begins for the upcoming elections.
He warned that delays in preparation could fuel further speculation about the stability and unity of the opposition coalition.
