BN Targets To Retain All 21 Melaka State Seats In Upcoming Election

Date:

Barisan Nasional (BN) is aiming to retain all 21 state seats currently held by the coalition in Melaka ahead of the upcoming state election.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the target was conveyed by Melaka Chief Minister and state BN chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, who is determined to defend the coalition’s current position.

However, Ahmad Zahid said BN remains open to discussions and possible cooperation with other parties as preparations for the election continue.

“Out of the 28 state seats in Melaka, the Chief Minister, as the Melaka BN chairman, informed me that he is determined to defend all 21 seats that were won,” he said.

He added that discussions would be held among all relevant parties, with the final decision on any agreement or understanding involving BN to be determined by the coalition’s central leadership.

Ahmad Zahid said the Melaka BN leadership remains open to negotiations, while stressing that any cooperation would be carefully considered before a decision is made.

He was speaking to reporters after attending the Monthly Assembly of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) here today.
