Bung Moktar Fires Back: ‘I Never Took a Cent’ in FELCRA RM150M Scandal!

Date:

Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has rejected claims that he acted with corrupt intent over FELCRA Berhad’s RM150 million investment in Public Mutual Berhad unit trusts.

Facing three corruption charges linked to the investment, Bung Moktar insisted he did not misuse his influence as Non-Executive Chairman of FELCRA to secure approval for the deal.

During cross-examination, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Fadhly Mohd Zamry suggested Bung Moktar acted to benefit himself and his wife, Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad, by obtaining RM2.8 million in upfront fees. Bung Moktar repeatedly denied these allegations, calling them “extremely malicious assumptions.”

He did, however, agree that he never reported the RM2.8 million to FELCRA’s Board of Directors, saying it was unnecessary as the matter was still under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Bung Moktar is accused of receiving bribes via investment agent Madhi Abdul Hamid through his wife at Public Bank, Taman Melawati, between 12:30 pm and 5 pm on June 12, 2015. He is also charged with personally receiving RM337,500 from unit trust consultant Norhaili Mohd Mokhtar through a Public Ittikal Sequel Fund (PITSEQ) account in his wife’s name.

His wife Zizie Izette is also defending herself against related charges.

The trial before Sessions Court Judge Rosli Ahmad continues on September 24.
