China has begun a two-day live-fire military exercise in parts of the Taiwan Strait, according to the country’s Maritime Safety Administration in the southern province of Fujian.
The drills, which are being conducted in waters close to China’s coastline, began on Thursday and will continue through Friday.
Authorities said the exercises will run daily from 6am to 6pm local time (2200 GMT to 1000 GMT), with maritime traffic advised to stay clear of the designated areas during the operation.
