Negeri Sembilan’s progress should not be measured by a change in political colours, but through effective policies, capable leadership and the successful implementation of projects that benefit the people.
DAP National Policy Director Datuk Chan Foong Hin said development does not come simply from a party winning an election, but through strong cooperation between the Federal and state governments, proper planning and consistent policies.
He said close coordination between both levels of government is important to ensure planned projects can be carried out effectively and contribute towards the state’s growth.
“Everyone in the Unity Government understands that development does not happen merely because a party wins an election.
“It happens when the Federal Government and state government work closely together, supported by structured planning, consistent policies and political commitment to deliver planned projects,” he said.
Chan, who is also a member of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto committee, was responding to a statement by Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who previously linked Negeri Sembilan’s development with wearing a ‘blue shirt’.
He said PH’s manifesto for the Negeri Sembilan state election contains 10 key commitments and five high-impact projects based on the coalition’s experience in governing the state and its cooperation with the Federal Government.
The five projects include the development of Seremban Sentral and increased KTM Komuter services between Seremban and Kuala Lumpur, a new hospital in Bandar Enstek, a new international port in Port Dickson, construction of second homes on Felda residential lots and the Senawang-Port Klang Bypass railway project.
Chan said three of the five projects are directly related to transportation and logistics, which could help boost economic growth and attract more investments into Negeri Sembilan.
He added that investors are attracted not by political speeches alone, but by efficient rail networks, better roads, modern ports and government policies that provide confidence to businesses.
Chan said PH aims to focus its campaign on solutions, projects, investments and the state’s economic future rather than using political symbols as a measure of development.
He also claimed that several previously delayed transport projects began progressing after DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke was appointed to lead the Transport Ministry.
Chan said elections should be an opportunity for voters to assess leaders based on their track records and development plans that can be implemented for the benefit of Negeri Sembilan.
