Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek Emphasizes Importance Of Nutrition In Academic Excellence

Date:

Farm Fresh Berhad, one of Malaysia’s largest local dairy producers, will continue its role as a strategic partner of the Ministry of Education (KPM) in implementing the School Milk Program (PSS) for five more years, extending until 2029.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the initiative, conducted under the Supplementary Food Program (RMT), aims to address malnutrition and nutrient deficiencies among students from low-income (B40) families nationwide.

Farm Fresh supplies nearly 78 million high-quality UHT milk packs annually to 381,000 selected students from 3,841 primary schools, including those in rural, interior, and island communities.

“Our hope is that every RMT student receives adequate nutrition to support their physical, mental, and emotional development, helping them reach their full potential in learning. Nutrition plays a major role in academic excellence,” she said during the World School Milk Day celebration at Farm Fresh today.

Fadhlina emphasized that students from B40 families are the group most in need of additional nutrition. “The milk supply program ensures they receive at least one source of quality nutrition every school day. This is especially important for students in rural, interior, and island areas who may have limited access to nutritious food. PSS ensures no student is left behind due to nutritional deficiencies,” she added.

Farm Fresh Berhad Chief Operating Officer Azmi Zainal expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the company by KPM to continue supporting this important program.

“Good nutrition is the foundation for educational success, optimal health, and strong character development. Through PSS, we do more than just supply milk; we contribute to building a healthy, intelligent, and morally upright future generation,” he said.

Azmi also highlighted the economic impact of the program, noting that the supply contract provides significant opportunities for 120 local entrepreneurs, including housewives, with delivery wages reaching RM9.4 million annually. “Many of these participants come from B40 and rural communities. When the community is involved in this chain, the benefits are multiplied: students receive nutritious milk while entrepreneurs gain stable income. This is a business model that prioritizes societal well-being, not just profit,” he said.

In conjunction with the 2025 World School Milk Day, Farm Fresh plans several corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs to complement the milk supply initiative. These include providing 86-inch smartboards to 10 selected classrooms, the “School-to-Farm” program, and scholarships for B40 students undertaking the Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM).
