Education Minister Urges Public Not To Speculate Over Teacher’s Death

Date:

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has appealed to the public to respect the privacy of a teacher’s family and avoid speculating over the death of a female teacher who was found unconscious at a school in Hulu Selangor on August 31.

In a Facebook post, Fadhlina urged everyone to allow the police to carry out a thorough investigation to determine the actual cause of the incident.

She said the Ministry of Education (MOE) is mobilising all available resources to provide psychosocial support for the school’s staff and students while investigations continue.

Fadhlina added that the ministry remains committed to safeguarding the mental well-being of the education community through ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Health, non-governmental organisations, counsellors and other relevant agencies.

“There is still much more that needs to be done, and we will continue working together,” she said.

Earlier, Hulu Selangor police chief M. Manimaran said the teacher was found unconscious in the school’s staff room after authorities received an emergency call at 7.15am.

She was rushed to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead.

Police have urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact the nearest police station or the Hulu Selangor District Police Headquarters to assist with investigations.
