Felda Must Continue Uplifting Settlers’ Lives, Says PM Anwar

Date:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) to continue being strengthened as an institution dedicated to improving the livelihoods and dignity of settlers and their families.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the matter was emphasised during a courtesy meeting with newly appointed Felda chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir in Putrajaya yesterday.

He said Felda’s efforts must focus not only on the welfare of current settlers but also on ensuring future generations benefit through stronger economic competitiveness and long-term sustainability.

Anwar added that greater attention should also be given to challenges faced by the younger generation of settlers to ensure they continue to have opportunities within the Felda ecosystem.

“I am confident that Ahmad Badri, with the responsibility entrusted to him, will be able to continue the agenda of restoring and strengthening Felda.

“The Madani Government will continue to provide full support to ensure this institution, which serves the people, continues to progress and remains relevant for future generations,” he said in a Facebook post.

Ahmad Badri officially assumed the role of Felda chairman on July 15, replacing Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, whose tenure ended on June 30.

The appointment comes as Felda continues efforts to strengthen its role in supporting settlers while adapting to current economic challenges.
