Iranian state-linked media has released a provocative AI-generated video depicting former US President Donald Trump being thrown into hell by Jesus Christ, escalating an already heated war of words surrounding Trump’s recent religious-themed social media posts.
The clip, shared online by an account linked to Iranian state media, appears to respond to Trump’s recent AI-generated image posted on Truth Social, where he portrayed himself in a Jesus-like role healing a man in a stylised religious scene. The post has since been deleted.
In the Iranian video, the narrative takes a dramatic turn, showing a Jesus-like figure descending from heaven before striking Trump and sending him into a fiery pit, in a highly stylised and symbolic depiction. The footage quickly circulated online, drawing widespread attention for its political and religious undertones.
The episode comes amid Trump’s ongoing clash with the Vatican and Pope Leo XIV, after the US President criticised the pontiff publicly and urged him to focus on religious duties rather than politics. The exchange followed comments from the Pope calling for peace and urging an end to global violence.
Trump later attempted to clarify his original post, saying he believed the AI-generated image depicted him as a doctor rather than a religious figure, adding that he “makes people better” and had removed the post due to public confusion.
The Iranian video also follows broader tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides engaging in escalating rhetoric over regional conflicts and foreign policy disputes.
Trump has not officially responded to the video.
