Johor EXCO Appointment Ceremony Rescheduled To Saturday

Date:

The swearing-in ceremony for Johor’s new State Executive Council (EXCO), originally scheduled to take place at Istana Bukit Serene on Friday, has been postponed to Saturday.

Media personnel were informed on Friday morning that the ceremony would instead be held at the same venue and time the following day.

No official reason has been provided for the postponement.

The full ceremonial event was initially set to take place before the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, at Istana Bukit Serene.

The ceremony is expected to see members of Johor’s new state administration take their oath of secrecy before receiving their official letters of appointment as EXCO members.

Members of the media had earlier been invited to cover the event from the palace’s Mahkota Gate and Kolam Air Gate, with coverage scheduled to begin from 9.30am.

The formation of the new EXCO line-up follows the swearing-in of Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi as Johor Menteri Besar for a second consecutive term last Sunday.

Barisan Nasional (BN) secured a commanding victory in the 16th Johor state election after winning 48 of the 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats, paving the way for the formation of the new state government.
