Khairy: I’ll Leave Showbiz The Day I Return To Politics

Date:

Former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says he has no plans to leave the creative industry anytime soon and will continue working as a radio presenter and entertainer unless he officially returns to active politics.

The 50-year-old, who currently serves as a presenter on Hot FM, said he sees no conflict in pursuing opportunities in the entertainment industry as long as he does not hold any official political position.

Speaking at the premiere screening of the movie 5 Bomoh, Khairy explained that he remains an ordinary party member and therefore has the freedom to explore creative ventures, including acting.

He stressed, however, that the situation would change if he were to return to a formal political role in the future.

According to Khairy, public office and entertainment should remain separate to avoid confusion among the public and to preserve professionalism. He believes individuals holding official positions should not blur the lines between political responsibilities and show business.

Khairy also spoke about making his feature film debut in 5 Bomoh, revealing that he accepted the role because the character closely resembles his real-life personality.

Although he has previously appeared in short films and advertisements, this marks his first appearance in a full-length movie.

He said he deliberately chose not to take on a leading role due to his lack of acting experience and viewed the project as an opportunity to gradually explore the industry.

The character he portrays, known as Mr. K, shares many similarities with his own personality, making it easier for him to bring the role to life on screen.

Khairy admitted that the role required minimal adjustment because much of the character was influenced by his natural mannerisms and public persona.

Directed by Syed Fariz, 5 Bomoh also features a star-studded cast including Aaron Aziz, Scha Alyahya, Afdlin Shauki, Amy Search, Aedy Ashraf, Ozlynn Waty, Johan, Ungku Hariz and Tiara Suraya Rose.

The film is scheduled for nationwide release on June 4.
