Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud has been appointed as the new Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, with his tenure beginning tomorrow.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa confirmed the appointment in a statement today, noting that it was approved by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, in accordance with Subsection 4(2) of the Federal Capital Act 1960.
Fadlun, 58, is a seasoned urban planner with more than 28 years of experience in city planning, regional development, and municipal management. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
He previously served as President of Perbadanan Putrajaya, beginning in 2022, where he led key initiatives such as Putrajaya Smart City Blueprint 2025, Putrajaya Green Transformation Plan, and various welfare and community development programmes promoting sustainability and inclusivity.
Fadlun is also a member of the Board of Town Planners, a Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Planners, and an active participant in international urban planning fora, earning a reputation as a strategic and forward-thinking city administrator.
Dr Zaliha said she is confident Fadlun will continue DBKL’s leadership legacy with “integrity, efficiency and a strong commitment to the aspirations of Kuala Lumpur residents.”
His appointment is expected to accelerate the Bandar Chase agenda and further position Kuala Lumpur as a competitive, liveable world-class city aligned with Madani principles.
The minister also thanked outgoing mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif for her service and congratulated her on her new role as Petronas Real Estate Advisor.
