Malaysian Embassy In Doha Advises Citizens To Stay Home Amid Gulf Tensions

Date:

The Malaysian Embassy in Doha has urged Malaysians in Qatar to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel following ongoing instability in Qatar and the wider Gulf region.

The advisory, issued on Monday, noted that recent incidents in the Ras Laffan and Mesaieed industrial areas caused only minor damage but highlighted continuing security risks. “All Malaysians in Qatar are advised to remain vigilant and NOT LEAVE their residences, except for essential matters only,” the embassy stated on its official Facebook page.

In addition, the embassy announced a data collection exercise to update records of Malaysians residing in or stranded in Qatar. The move is intended to ensure that important information can be communicated quickly and accurately if the situation escalates. A link for citizens to update their details was provided in the Facebook post.

Regional tensions rose sharply on Saturday after the United States and Israel conducted strikes on Iran, reportedly killing several senior Iranian officials. In retaliation, Tehran launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and US assets across Gulf countries.

The embassy’s advisory underscores the need for residents to remain alert and follow official guidance as security concerns continue to affect the Gulf region.
