MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has dismissed claims that Perikatan Nasional (PN) is assisting Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Johor State Election (PRN Johor) as baseless.
He said the four seats contested by MCA under the BN banner — Jementah, Paloh, Layang-Layang and Stulang — are witnessing three-cornered fights involving BN, Pakatan Harapan (PH) and PN, which clearly refutes allegations of any informal cooperation between BN and PN.
“The four BN-MCA seats in this Johor state election, namely Jementah, Paloh, Layang-Layang and Stulang, are facing three-cornered contests against PH and PN. This alone is enough to answer PH-DAP’s claim that ‘PN is helping BN’,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Ka Siong also said his attendance at a campaign talk in N02 Jementah to support BN candidate See Ann Giap, who is also facing competition from DAP and PAS, further reflects the reality on the ground.
He added that if PN were truly giving BN an easy path, there would not be three-cornered contests in the affected constituencies.
He also rejected claims that defeated MCA candidates could be appointed as appointed assemblymen or state executive councillors, describing such assertions as inconsistent with the Johor State Constitution.
Ka Siong said such narratives were merely sensational and did not reflect the actual political situation in the state.
The campaign event was also attended by Johor BN Chairman and Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, as well as BN candidate for Buloh Kasap, Datuk Zahari Sarip.
In his speech, Ka Siong also expressed appreciation for Onn Hafiz, describing him as a strong leader who has ensured Johor remains on a path of development and economic growth since taking office in 2022.
He urged voters in Jementah to give their mandate to BN candidate See Ann Giap to continue the state’s development agenda.
