The Ministry of Education (MOE) has introduced a Character Development Program as a key initiative under the 2027 school curriculum, aimed at nurturing students who are virtuous, well-mannered, and responsible.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek described the program as a strategic shift in the national education system, designed to strengthen moral and character development in a comprehensive and structured manner among students.
“At the preschool level, it will be implemented through integrated daily learning activities,” she said in a statement today.
For primary and secondary schools, a dedicated 60-minute weekly session will be allocated in the timetable to allow character-building activities to be conducted in a structured and focused manner.
The program emphasizes teaching and learning that centers on instilling values, promoting positive behavior, and fostering etiquette and moral conduct within the context of students’ daily lives.
According to the MOE, this initiative reflects its commitment to nurturing a holistic generation, well-rounded in academics, character, and identity.
