Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has rejected claims that the coalition’s newly launched manifesto was copied from other political parties.
The UMNO president said the manifesto unveiled on Friday was instead a continuation of BN’s previous agendas, with improvements made to suit current needs and challenges.
He said the coalition had been developing its manifesto framework since 2004 and the latest version was prepared by refining existing plans rather than replicating proposals from other parties.
“There is no issue of copy-pasting the manifesto because from 2004 until 2018, we have already developed these agendas. This is an improvement based on what we already had,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid said the latest manifesto was also aimed at continuing development plans that were previously delayed after BN failed to secure enough seats to form the state government in 2018.
He made the remarks after attending a community gathering with the Indian community in Lukut yesterday.
The early voting for the Negeri Sembilan state election is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, while polling day will be held on 1 August.
