Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has officially been sworn in as the Menteri Besar of Johor, expressing his deepest gratitude to His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, for granting his consent to the appointment.
The Machap assemblyman also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, for the trust and confidence placed in him to continue leading the state’s administration. He pledged to carry out the responsibility with unwavering loyalty for the progress of Johor and the well-being of Bangsa Johor.
Following his swearing-in ceremony on Sunday, Onn Hafiz acknowledged the weight of the responsibility ahead, saying every decision made by the state government would have a direct impact on the lives of millions of Johoreans. He stressed that effective leadership requires integrity, wisdom and a strong commitment to serving the people.
In a Facebook post, Onn Hafiz said he prayed for Allah SWT to continue guiding every step he takes, granting him the wisdom to make the right decisions while remaining fair, trustworthy and sincere in fulfilling his duties.
As one of his first announcements, Onn Hafiz revealed that the Johor State Government has declared Monday, 13 July 2026, a special state public holiday. The declaration was made with the consent of the Regent of Johor as a gesture of appreciation to the people of Johor for fulfilling their civic responsibility during the 16th Johor State Election (PRN).
He said the public holiday also serves as recognition of the democratic spirit shown by voters throughout the election, which concluded with a decisive victory for Barisan Nasional. The move reflects the state’s appreciation for public participation in shaping Johor’s future.
Onn Hafiz concluded by seeking the prayers and support of the people of Johor, asking that he be blessed with strength, guidance and sincerity to discharge his duties with integrity while always striving to serve the state in the best possible manner.
