PKR does not consider UMNO’s decision not to invite Pakatan Harapan (PH) representatives to the 2026 UMNO General Assembly (PAU) an issue, saying it respects the party’s right to decide who attends its annual gathering.
PKR Communications director Adam Adli Abdul Halim said PKR had no problem whether its representatives were invited or not.
“It’s fine. Not being invited is not our concern. It’s their house, and they have the right to decide who they want to invite.
“We have no issue with it. Whether we are invited or not, there is no problem,” he said.
He was commenting on UMNO’s decision not to invite PH representatives to PAU 2026, which is being held from Wednesday to Saturday.
Previously, UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reportedly said PAS was invited as a reciprocal gesture following representatives from the Islamist party attending the 72nd PAS Muktamar in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, last week.
Adam Adli was speaking to reporters after the closing ceremony of the Madani Adopted Village Programme organised by the Prime Minister’s Department’s Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU JPM) at Kampung Sungai Putat on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Adam Adli, who is also Hang Tuah Jaya MP, said the Sungai Putat flood mitigation project had passed the 50% construction mark and was already showing positive results, with flooding in the area becoming less severe.
He said the project, costing more than RM24 million, was expected to be completed next year and expressed hope that it would remain on schedule to ensure local residents could benefit from it.
“We hope this project can be completed within the stipulated timeframe so that residents can fully benefit from it, particularly in reducing the risk of flooding,” he said.
Adam Adli, who is also Deputy Higher Education Minister, said more than RM1 million had been spent through the Sungai Putat Madani Adopted Village initiative on various development projects and upgrades to public facilities.
The projects included the construction of a hall, road repairs, drainage and street lighting upgrades, as well as improvements to the community hall, mosque and mosque toilets.
He said the initiative was important to ensure the benefits of national development and economic growth reached communities at the grassroots level.
“Development cannot be concentrated at certain levels alone. Basic facilities and the needs of local communities must also be given attention so that the benefits of development can be enjoyed more widely,” he said.
