Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Six States Until 5pm

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas across six states this afternoon, with heavy rain expected until 5pm.

In a statement, MetMalaysia said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds were forecast in Perlis and Kedah, including Langkawi, Bandar Baharu and Kulim.

Similar weather conditions were also expected in Penang and parts of Perak, namely Kerian and Selama.

In Sarawak, the warning covers several areas including Song, Kapit and Belaga in Kapit; Betong; Lubok Antu in Sri Aman; Kuching; Asajaya and Sebuyau in Samarahan; Lawas in Limbang; Sebauh and Tatau in Bintulu; and Beluru in Miri.

In Sabah, thunderstorms are expected in Tambunan and Sipitang in the Interior, as well as Tuaran, Kota Belud, Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Putatan and Papar along the West Coast.

The warning is in effect until 5pm today.
