The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has announced the transfer and appointment of 26 senior officers involving key positions at Bukit Aman and several state police contingents.
PDRM secretary Datuk Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali said one of the major appointments involves Perlis Police Chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim, who has been appointed Deputy Director (Operations) of the Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) at Bukit Aman. He will assume the role with the acting rank of Commissioner of Police (CP).
Also promoted is Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mohd Taufik Toh Abdullah, currently the Principal Assistant Director (E6) of the Special Branch at Bukit Aman, who has been appointed Deputy Director I of the Special Branch with the acting rank of CP.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Farouk Eshak, the Principal Assistant Director (D7) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been appointed Deputy Director of Forensics and Strategic Planning at the CID with the acting rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
Meanwhile, Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin, currently Sabah’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief, has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police for Sabah, also with the acting rank of DCP.
Among the other appointments, Senior Assistant Commissioner Lim San Aik, who currently heads the Sarawak CID, will become Sabah’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief, while Assistant Commissioner Mohd Hafiz Ya’acob, currently the Assistant Director (D9) of CID Investigations at Bukit Aman, has been appointed Sabah CID chief with the acting rank of SAC.
Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, the Iskandar Puteri district police chief, has been appointed Sarawak CID chief, while Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, currently the Dang Wangi district police chief, will take over as Kuala Lumpur CID chief. Both officers will assume the acting rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC).
Other changes include the appointment of Assistant Commissioner Basri Sagoni, the Sentul district police chief, as the Principal Assistant Director (D7) of the CID at Bukit Aman, and Assistant Commissioner Zulkarnain Samsudin, currently the deputy head of Kuala Lumpur CID (Intelligence/Operations), as the Selangor CID chief. Both appointments carry the acting rank of SAC.
Mohamad Noor said all transfers will take effect on Sept 1, except those involving Muhammad Abdul Halim and Roslan Alias, whose appointments took effect on Monday.
