Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has stressed that investigations involving fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, are still ongoing despite reports claiming he is seeking a pardon from US President Donald Trump.
Inspector-General of Police Mohd Khalid Ismail said the matter remains under active investigation and police attention.
“This issue is still under ongoing investigation. I believe matters like this are quite sensitive to discuss,” he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the PDRM Special Dialogue V 2026 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club on Thursday.
Mohd Khalid said PDRM continues to maintain good cooperation with relevant countries as part of efforts to pursue investigations linked to the fugitive businessman.
“We are continuing our actions as before and maintaining good relations with the countries involved,” he said.
Earlier today, media reports claimed that Jho Low was seeking a pardon from Trump.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the application was allegedly filed several weeks ago based on sources familiar with the matter.
The report stated that if the pardon application were approved, it could potentially lead to the dismissal of all criminal charges faced by Jho Low in the United States.
However, a White House official reportedly informed WSJ that the pardon request has not yet appeared on the White House’s radar or become a matter receiving official attention.
