PDRM Warns: Follow The Rules Or Face Action At Rallies In KL

Date:

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has emphasized that all organizers and participants of gatherings in the capital must comply with laws and instructions issued by authorities to maintain public order.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, said the police, as the enforcement agency, are responsible for ensuring the safety of the public, including tourists in busy areas.

“In enforcing the law, everyone must remember that the purpose is to safeguard safety, public order, and the well-being of all, including visitors and tourists in our country. As law enforcers, the police are responsible for managing all gatherings organized, whether it was yesterday, today, or in the future,” he said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters today.

He stressed that while the police respect freedom of speech and assembly as enshrined under the Federal Constitution and the Peaceful Assembly Act, all parties must follow instructions from the authorities.

He warned that action will be taken against participants who violate the law, create disturbances, or obstruct public officials from carrying out their duties.

“If the police issue instructions, please comply, as it is for everyone’s good. There are reasons why such directives are given — to ensure gatherings proceed smoothly and avoid negative outcomes,” he said.

Commenting on yesterday’s incident, Fadil referred to the assembly involving the Ultras Malaya group, where flares were used and chaos broke out in front of the United States Embassy.

“We will take action, just as with what happened yesterday. Any criminal offense will be acted upon. That is very clear,” he stated.

Yesterday, media reported that thousands joined the Himpunan Sumud Flotilla rally outside the U.S. Embassy, demanding an immediate response regarding the interception and detention of Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) volunteers by Israeli forces. Participants had gathered from 4pm, carrying banners and chanting solidarity slogans.
