Pakatan Harapan (PH) will only decide on its potential Menteri Besar Johor candidate after the coalition discusses the matter at its highest leadership level, says Anthony Loke.
The PH deputy chairman said the priority for now is to focus on winning seats in the Johor state election rather than naming any candidate for the top post.
“At this stage, the matter of the Johor Menteri Besar will be discussed at the PH leadership level. There is no announcement yet,” he told reporters after the announcement of candidates for Johor Jaya (N.42) and Tiram (N.40) at the Harapan Community Centre in Plentong on Saturday.
The DAP secretary-general was responding to questions on whether PH had identified a “poster boy” or potential Menteri Besar should the coalition win the state polls.
He added that each constituency contested by DAP would have its own “poster boy” or “poster girl” based on the candidates fielded.
“For DAP, the goal is to win and defend the seats we previously held, including Ulu Tiram,” he said.
At the event, Nor Zulaila Abd Ghani, 38, and Lee Wern Yiing, 30, were announced as PH candidates for Johor Jaya and Tiram.
Also present were Johor DAP chairman Teo Nie Ching and her deputy Wong Shu Qi.
