Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said public support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains encouraging, but stronger grassroots efforts are needed to ensure the reform agenda can continue.
He said the support must be translated into political strength at constituency level, particularly if Pakatan Harapan (PH) and PKR want Anwar to lead the country for a second term.
Kamil said he was grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside Anwar and had witnessed first-hand the Prime Minister’s commitment and hard work in governing the country.
“I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to serve with Anwar and I have personally seen how hard he works,” he said during his winding-up speech at the 2026 Keadilan National Congress at MITC here on Sunday.
He stressed that continuing the agenda of reform, change and islah would require collective efforts from party members and supporters rather than relying solely on the Prime Minister’s popularity.
Kamil explained that Malaysia’s representative political system meant party leaders and grassroots members needed to engage directly with voters in their respective constituencies and branches.
While public opinion surveys and ratings may indicate strong support for Anwar, he said such support must ultimately translate into votes at the constituency level.
“The victories we achieve in our constituencies will determine and ensure that our president can be retained for a second term, God willing,” he said.
Kamil also called on PKR’s election machinery to begin preparations for the next general election, which he described as increasingly close.
He said the party should also learn from its previous electoral setbacks and identify areas that need improvement to strengthen its performance in future contests.
The call highlights the importance of sustained grassroots engagement, particularly as political parties prepare for the next general election and compete to win voter confidence beyond national-level approval ratings.
Kamil urged party members to remain united and focused on strengthening the machinery at every level to ensure PKR is ready when the election is called.
