PM Anwar Appeals For Calm And Negotiations Amid Regional Violence

Date:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all parties to exercise restraint and redouble diplomatic efforts as tensions intensify across the Gulf and wider West Asia.

The Prime Minister said the appeal aligns with a principled bipartisan stance adopted by the Malaysian Parliament which has seen repeated attacks affecting several Gulf nations, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

“The violence has also extended beyond the Gulf, impacting countries such as Azerbaijan, Jordan, and Turkey. Vital infrastructure, including energy facilities, water supply systems, and other essentials relied upon by millions for daily life, has been targeted. Major global oil routes and international shipping lanes run through this region, so disruptions here have far-reaching consequences beyond the immediate area,” he added.

Anwar stressed that Malaysia is ready to support any genuine efforts to end hostilities through negotiation.

He also urged the international community to act swiftly and effectively to prevent further loss of life and mitigate wider implications for other nations.
