Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed confidence that Pakatan Harapan (PH) can retain its mandate in the Negeri Sembilan state election, based on the state government’s performance record and public response throughout the campaign period.
With around eight hours remaining before the campaign period ends, Anwar, who is also PH chairman, said the coalition’s confidence was supported by the strong commitment shown by its election machinery, which continued working until the final hours.
He said cooperation among all parties involved had been positive and PH remained hopeful of receiving continued support from voters.
“However, we are not taking the competition from other parties lightly. The entire machinery will continue working until the end to ensure the people’s support is translated into votes,” he said.
Anwar said the main focus now was to ensure the voting process takes place peacefully, smoothly and with cooperation from all parties involved.
Speaking to reporters after Friday prayers at Masjid Qaryah Paroi Jaya, he said maintaining a safe and orderly election environment was important after the campaign period ended.
When asked about the number of seats PH expected to win, Anwar said the final decision rested entirely with voters and should be determined through the ballot box.
Previously, Anwar stressed that election outcomes should not be based solely on surveys or predictions, but on the decisions made by voters who exercise their right to vote.
The 16th Negeri Sembilan state election involves contests for all 36 state assembly seats, with polling scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The Election Commission (EC) expects the earliest results to be announced from 10pm onwards, while the full election results are expected by midnight.
