Perikatan Nasional (PN) has announced a major leadership reshuffle, with Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin removed from his position as the coalition’s Election Director with immediate effect.
PN Chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the role will now be assumed by Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor as part of efforts to strengthen the coalition’s preparations for upcoming state elections.
The leadership changes also see Muhammad Sanusi vacating the position of PN Treasurer. The post will now be filled by S Subramaniam, Deputy President of the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP).
Meanwhile, PN Deputy Secretary-General Mohamed Azmin Ali has also been relieved of his duties in line with requirements stipulated under the coalition’s constitution.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ahmad Samsuri said the administrative restructuring is aimed at enhancing the coalition’s readiness ahead of the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
He added that the changes were made under powers granted by Clauses 8.3 (V), (VI) and (VII) of the PN Constitution. A special meeting of the coalition’s Supreme Council will also be convened in the near future to further strengthen the organisation and chart its electoral strategy.
The latest shake-up signals PN’s intention to streamline its leadership structure as political parties begin gearing up for the next round of state polls.
