PN-BN Urged To Reveal Plans Instead Of Raising Race Issues, Says DAP

Date:

DAP national vice-chairman Syahredzan Johan has accused Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) of continuing to raise racial issues during the Negeri Sembilan state election campaign due to a lack of other matters to highlight.

He said the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution clearly states that the Menteri Besar appointed must be a Malay Muslim, dismissing speculation over the possibility of a non-Malay Muslim holding the position.

“PBN appears to have no other issues to bring up. They keep repeating the same matter.

“There is currently no situation that would allow a non-Malay Muslim Menteri Besar to be appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday.

His remarks came after Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki questioned who would become the Menteri Besar candidate for Pakatan Harapan (PH) if incumbent Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun lost the state election.

Asyraf had also raised the possibility of DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke being considered for the position.

Syahredzan said instead of confusing voters, PN and BN should reveal their direction and plans for the people of Negeri Sembilan.

“Rather than trying to mislead the people, it would be better for PN and BN to announce their direction for Negeri Sembilan.

“This is still unclear,” he said.

The issue has become one of the political talking points ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state election, with parties continuing to debate leadership matters and their respective visions for the state.
