PN Urges Members To Avoid Public Criticism Against Component Parties

Date:

Perikatan Nasional (PN) has reminded leaders and members of its component parties not to issue inappropriate public criticism against fellow coalition partners through the media or any other platform.

PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said any dissatisfaction should first be channelled internally within each respective party before being brought forward for discussion and consensus within the coalition.

He said the coalition’s leadership would now focus its efforts and energy on larger issues involving the interests of the country and the rakyat.

“All internal party matters will certainly be managed and handled internally in a more effective, wise and positive manner,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The reminder comes amid recent tensions within the coalition following public remarks involving leaders from Bersatu and PAS.

Earlier reports stated that Bersatu leaders stressed that the party’s contributions, as well as those of its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, should not be questioned by any party within PN.

The statement followed open criticism from PAS leaders regarding Bersatu’s internal turmoil, including suggestions that the party reconsider its position within the coalition.

The issue is believed to be linked to disciplinary actions taken against several Bersatu lawmakers, including the suspension and expulsion of certain leaders, which continue to draw attention in the current political landscape.

Political observers say public disagreements among coalition members could affect PN’s image if not addressed carefully, especially at a time when national political dynamics remain closely watched.
