Probe Into Allegations Against MACC Chief Azam Baki Still Ongoing, Says Minister

Date:

Investigations into allegations involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki are still ongoing, following claims raised by an international media outlet over alleged links to corporate shareholding and market manipulation.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the authorities must be allowed to complete their investigation process before any conclusions are made or details of the findings are disclosed to the public.

He stressed that the matter remains under the jurisdiction of the relevant enforcement agencies, and that it would be inappropriate to speculate while the probe is still underway.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet press briefing, Fahmi said it is crucial that the investigation is fully concluded before any further action is taken or any information regarding the shareholding issue is made public.

He added that any decision on when to announce findings would ultimately be determined by the Cabinet, and at the appropriate time, by the Prime Minister once the investigation process has been finalised.
