Rafizi Ramli Probe Nears Completion, Only Two Witnesses Left – MACC

Date:

Investigations involving former Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and his former aide James Chai are in the final stages, with only two more witnesses left to have their statements recorded, according to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

MACC Chief Commissioner Azam Baki said one of the remaining witnesses is currently based in Taiwan, while the other is in Malaysia. He added that the investigation papers will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor once all statements have been obtained.

He said the case is now approaching completion, with only two final witness interviews pending before the investigation file is finalised.

In a separate development, Rafizi was previously reported to have spent nearly nine hours at the MACC headquarters to assist in investigations linked to alleged abuse of power and misappropriation involving an RM1.1 billion investment matter connected to the Ministry of Economy and ARM Limited UK.

Authorities said the probe involves allegations related to a strategic semiconductor industry collaboration, which is currently under scrutiny as part of the ongoing investigation process.
