Sabah Electricity Warns Public About Fake Staff Seeking Personal Information

Date:

Sabah Electricity has warned the public about individuals allegedly posing as its employees and visiting homes under the pretext of collecting customer information.

The utility company stressed that its personnel are not authorised to visit customer premises to collect personal details without prior official notification.

Sabah Electricity said legitimate inspection and maintenance work is generally limited to electricity meters and related external equipment. Its staff are not permitted to enter homes to inspect internal wiring without prior arrangements.

The company also reminded consumers that genuine Sabah Electricity employees must wear uniforms displaying the company logo and carry valid staff identification cards.

Customers have the right to request and verify the identification of any personnel before allowing them to carry out work at their premises.

Sabah Electricity further stressed that its employees are strictly prohibited from collecting cash payments or deposits at customers’ homes.

All payments and transactions should instead be made through the company’s official payment channels, customer service centres, the 15444 hotline or the mySE+ mobile application.

The public is urged to remain cautious when approached by individuals claiming to represent Sabah Electricity and to verify their identity through official channels before providing personal information or allowing access to their homes.
