Sabah Heart Centre Expected To Begin Operations By Q3 2029

Date:

The construction of the Sabah Heart Centre at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2027, with operations targeted to begin within 24 months afterwards, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He said the project is a new initiative under Rolling Plan 1 (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), with a total allocation of RM125 million.

According to Dzulkefly, the designated space at the hospital is sufficient to accommodate the Sabah Heart Centre, while the project cost covers preliminary works, building upgrades and the necessary medical equipment.

“The Ministry of Health is currently in the procurement process for material testing, which is expected to be completed in August, while the value management laboratory is scheduled to be implemented in the first quarter of 2027,” he said.

Dzulkefly said the project has been identified as one of the Ministry of Economy’s priorities this year and has been given high priority by the government.

He expressed hope that construction would be completed by the third quarter of 2027, allowing the facility to proceed with preparations before beginning operations.

“Hopefully, in the third quarter of 2027 the building will be completed and 24 months after that, which is the third quarter of 2029, God willing, the Sabah Heart Centre will be operational,” he said.
