Perikatan Nasional (PN) will invite Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to its emergency meeting on Sunday following a court decision allowing the coalition to resume its activities.
PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the invitation had been communicated, with the official invitation card expected to be issued on Saturday.
He said the emergency meeting of PN’s Supreme Council did not require the usual seven-day notice period stipulated under the coalition’s constitution.
Takiyuddin was speaking after the Himpunan dan Munajat Penyatuan Ummah (Himpak) programme, held in conjunction with the Kelantan People’s Carnival celebrating 36 years of development under the state’s Membangun Bersama Islam agenda at Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV on Saturday night.
The meeting, which will be held at PAS headquarters, is expected to discuss several matters, including PN’s status and preparations for the upcoming Melaka state election.
Takiyuddin said the position of PN’s component parties would also be discussed, including Bersatu, which he understood had already selected its seats and planned to use its own logo.
“That matter will be discussed at the meeting if they (Bersatu) attend,” he said.
He added that the court’s decision to suspend the implementation of the notice to suspend and deregister PN had enabled the coalition to resume its activities and hold meetings as usual.
Previously, a notice dated Sept 23 directed PN to suspend all its activities, except those related to responding to a show-cause notice issued by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
“Based on yesterday’s court decision, PN is allowed to hold meetings and carry out activities.
“With the suspension order in place, PN can now resume its responsibilities, activities and meetings as usual,” he said.
