Tengku Zafrul To Testify In Muhyiddin’s RM232.5 Million Corruption Trial

Date:

Former Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz will be called as the 11th prosecution witness on July 6 in the corruption and money laundering trial involving Muhyiddin Yassin.

The case involves allegations that the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) president received RM232.5 million in bribes and was involved in laundering RM195 million.

High Court judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin fixed the hearing date after proceedings concluded on Monday.

The session also saw the prosecution complete its opening statement alongside testimony from a formal witness.

The 10th prosecution witness, R Harshini, who serves as an assistant registrar at the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), also testified during the hearing.

Judge Noor Ruwena expressed hope that the prosecution stage of the case could be completed before September 14.

“I think Tan Sri Muhyiddin also wants this case settled because otherwise it becomes difficult to move around,” the judge remarked during proceedings.

Meanwhile, Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin informed the court that another 18 prosecution witnesses are expected to testify in the case involving the Pagoh Member of Parliament.

Muhyiddin, 79, who arrived at court wearing a dark red suit, appeared calm throughout the proceedings while seated in the dock.
