US President Donald Trump has warned that the American military is prepared to launch strikes against Iran if Tehran carries out or attempts to carry out an assassination plot against him.
Trump said he had issued orders for the US military to be ready to respond, claiming that thousands of missiles could be deployed against Iran should any threat against the US president materialise.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump said military preparations had already been made and that American forces were positioned to act if Iran moved forward with any alleged assassination attempt.
He claimed that the US military was ready to target Iran for an extended period, adding that the forces had the capability to carry out major operations against the country.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides continuing to exchange threats following a period of escalating conflict.
Trump did not provide details on the alleged threats against him, while Iran has not immediately responded to his latest remarks.
