Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has been awarded the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN), which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri’ (Dato’ Seri), in conjunction with the 85th birthday celebration of Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib on Saturday.
Fahmi, who is also the Madani Government spokesperson, led the list of 230 recipients at the Penang State Honours, Medals and Awards Investiture Ceremony 2026 held at Dewan Sri Pinang today.
He was the sole recipient of the DPPN award this year.
Also honoured were 19 individuals who received the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN), which also carries the title ‘Datuk Seri’. Among them were Mara Incorporated Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Mohammad and InvestPenang chief executive officer Datuk Loo Lee Lian.
Meanwhile, nine recipients were awarded the Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (DMPN), while another 72 individuals received the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), which carries the title ‘Datuk’.
Former Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail was among those awarded the DMPN, while DSPN recipients included renowned actor, director and scriptwriter of Cathay-Keris Film Productions, the late Nordin Ahmad, as well as National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) director-general Meor Ismail Meor Akim and Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak.
Earlier, Tun Ramli and his wife Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah arrived at 8.45am to officiate the honours ceremony.
The four-day Penang State Honours, Medals and Awards Investiture Ceremony, held from Saturday and continuing on July 13, 14 and 15, will see 101 individuals receiving state awards, while another 1,120 recipients will be presented with honorary medals and decorations.
