The United States Navy’s blockade against Iran remains fully enforced, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Saturday, reported Anadolu Ajansi.
CENTCOM said that as of 25 July, US forces had redirected 12 commercial vessels attempting to breach the blockade, while disabling two ships that refused to comply with instructions.
The command added that its personnel had also boarded two other vessels to verify compliance with the restrictions.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, CENTCOM said US forces completed an inspection of the Comoros-registered oil tanker M/T Charminar in the Arabian Sea early Saturday before allowing the vessel to continue its journey.
Meanwhile, CENTCOM reported that the Mozambique-registered oil tanker M/T Lavine was disabled in the Gulf of Oman on Friday after its crew allegedly attempted several times to breach the blockade despite repeated warnings.
The command said the vessel was no longer heading towards Iran following the action taken by US forces.
CENTCOM has continued monitoring maritime activities in the region as enforcement efforts against vessels attempting to violate the restrictions remain ongoing.
