US Warns It May Resume Military Action If Iran Deal Collapses

Date:

The United States has warned that it is prepared to restart military strikes on Iran if ongoing negotiations fail to produce an agreement, according to US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Speaking in Singapore, Hegseth said Washington retains the capability and readiness to act if required, as talks continue between US and Iranian negotiators aimed at narrowing major differences in the proposed deal.

He said US military stockpiles remain sufficient and that the country is in a strong position globally, emphasising that the US can manage multiple operations simultaneously.

Hegseth also stressed that Washington remains committed to the Asia-Pacific region despite its involvement in broader geopolitical conflicts.

He added that efforts are underway to strengthen the US defence industrial base to significantly increase munitions production to support global operations.

The Pentagon chief said President Donald Trump is still pursuing a “great deal” that would ensure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons, while maintaining patience in the negotiation process.

The comments came as diplomatic discussions continued over a potential extension of a truce and a broader framework aimed at ending the conflict and stabilising the region.
