Violence Only Begets Violence: Dalai Lama Urges Peace In Middle East And Ukraine!

Date:

The Dalai Lama, a prominent Buddhist spiritual leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has issued a poignant warning today regarding the escalating global tensions. In a formal letter, the 90-year-old monk emphasised that the use of force serves only to breed further animosity, rather than providing a sustainable path toward reconciliation.

Addressing the ongoing military confrontations in the Middle East and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Tibetan leader asserted that any lasting settlement must be grounded in diplomatic engagement. He advocated for a foundation of mutual respect and dialogue, grounded in the philosophical belief that all of humanity shares a common bond as brothers and sisters.

From his residence in India, the charismatic spiritual figure expressed his firm support for the recent peace message delivered by Pope Leo XIV during a Palm Sunday address. He noted that the Pontiff’s plea for nations to relinquish their weaponry and renounce violent tactics aligns perfectly with the core principles found within all major global religions.

The Dalai Lama highlighted that whether one follows Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, or Judaism, the fundamental teachings remain consistent in their focus on compassion and tolerance. He stressed that self-discipline and love are the true hallmarks of these spiritual traditions, leaving no room for the justification of bloodshed in their respective doctrines.

In his concluding remarks, the Nobel laureate offered prayers for a swift conclusion to the current hostilities that are devastating regions across the globe. He reiterated his hope that world leaders would turn toward peaceful negotiation, reflecting the shared human values of mercy and empathy that transcend national and religious boundaries.
