The top leadership of Barisan Nasional (BN) gathered at Wisma UMNO here today for a meeting with the coalition’s candidates contesting in the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN), scheduled for August 1.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived at the venue at about 9.40am and was welcomed by UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.
Also present were BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Negeri Sembilan UMNO Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias.
When approached by reporters, Jalaluddin remained tight-lipped on the list of candidates that BN will field in the upcoming state election.
“Be patient… we will announce it tonight,” he briefly told reporters at Wisma UMNO.
The closed-door meeting between the BN leadership and its candidates was held earlier today as part of preparations ahead of the state election campaign.
Ahmad Zahid is expected to officially announce the BN candidates during the launch of the coalition’s election machinery and candidate announcement ceremony at Stadium Paroi tonight.
