Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei continued their consistent form by advancing to the semifinals of the 2025 China Masters at Shenzhen Arena on Friday.
Seeded third, the duo booked their spot in the last four after overcoming Hong Kong’s fifth-seeded pair Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet in a hard-fought three-game battle, winning 21-12, 12-21, 21-17 in an hour-long match.
The victory marks the reigning world champions’ seventh semifinal appearance of the season, while also maintaining their perfect record against the Hong Kong pair — having last defeated them at the 2023 Arctic Open.
Chen and Toh started strongly with an easy first-game win but faced a spirited comeback from Tang and Tse in the second game before regaining control in the decider.
The win also keeps the Malaysians’ unbeaten head-to-head record intact against the Hong Kong duo, now leading 2-0.
They are set to face either China’s Feng Yan Zhe–Huang Dong Ping or Guo Xin Wa–Chen Fang Hui in Saturday’s semifinal clash.
