Tiger Woods has reportedly agreed to plead to a reduced charge of reckless driving following a car crash outside his Florida home in March, according to media reports cited by PA Media/dpa.
The 15-time major golf champion was arrested and spent eight hours in jail before being released on bail after the Land Rover he was driving overturned in a collision with a pickup truck towing a trailer.
Woods had initially pleaded not guilty in writing through his lawyer to charges including driving under the influence of a controlled substance, causing property damage and refusing to submit to testing.
However, during a hearing at Martin County Court in Stuart, Florida, on Wednesday morning, Woods reportedly agreed to accept the lesser reckless driving charge.
The judge subsequently ordered Woods’ driving licence to be suspended for five years and fined him US$1,000 (RM4,044).
The plea deal brings the case closer to a conclusion following the crash, which occurred outside Woods’ residence in March.
