Canva users in Malaysia experienced trouble saving their designs Monday night as the popular online design platform faced technical issues. Reports on Downdetector, a real-time outage tracker, indicated problems began around 10 p.m. ET (10 a.m. Malaysia Time on Tuesday), with many users taking to social media to complain about connection errors and the inability to save edits.
Canva acknowledged the issue on its status page at 10:13 p.m. ET (10:13 a.m. MYT), confirming engineers were investigating. Two hours later, the company noted that users were unable to view or save changes to their designs.
By 3:32 a.m. ET Tuesday (3:32 p.m. MYT), Canva announced it had implemented a fix and was monitoring results. At 4:32 a.m. ET (4:32 p.m. MYT), the company confirmed on X that the platform was back online, thanking users for their patience.
A Canva spokesperson told Mashable, “We’re aware some users are having trouble saving their designs in Canva. Our engineers are on the case — we’ve identified the issue and expect things to be back up and running soon. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
With 170 million monthly users, including major organizations, the outage likely affected a significant number of people relying on the platform for design work.
