Man Jailed Two Years For Punching Wife After She Refused to Have A 3rd Child

Date:

The Magistrates’ Court has handed a 34-year-old man a total of 24 months’ imprisonment for physically assaulting his wife and threatening to kill her and her family.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan convicted the man following his own guilty plea to two charges. The first, under Section 323 read with Section 326A of the Penal Code, involved voluntarily causing hurt by punching his 31-year-old wife in the head. The second, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, was for criminal intimidation, threatening to kill his wife.

The court ordered 12 months’ jail for each charge, to run consecutively.

The offences occurred around 11.30pm on 27 February 2026 at their home on Jalan Arang. Reports stated the man became violent after his wife refused sexual advances. During the altercation, he pulled down her pants and tried to force her, prompting her to resist and kick him. Enraged, he punched her twice in the head before threatening that she and her family would be killed if she refused to have a third child.

Fearing for their safety, the wife lodged a police report, leading to the man’s arrest. A medical examination confirmed soft tissue injuries to her head, left cheek, and right hand.

The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Aidil Akmal Sharidan, while the accused did not have legal representation.
