Police have detained four individuals — three men and a woman — in two separate raids carried out in Kuching on November 18 and 19, seizing methamphetamine worth RM41,017.80.
Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the first raid, conducted at around 10.45pm on November 18 along Jalan Borneo, led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman.
During the operation, officers found two packets containing 7.02 grammes of suspected methamphetamine valued at RM772. Both suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and were found to have prior criminal records. The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and they have been remanded until Friday.
In the second operation at around 4.15pm on November 19, two men aged 33 and 41 were arrested at Jalan Tun Jugah. Police seized approximately one kilogramme of methamphetamine hidden inside a plastic tea packet.
Of the two suspects, one tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and had four previous criminal records. The other suspect tested negative for drugs and had no prior record. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction. Both men have been remanded from November 21 to 27 to assist in the investigation.
