Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has emphasized that his perfect attendance in the Dewan Rakyat is not a matter of choice, but a matter of duty and responsibility.
Despite juggling multiple commitments, including extreme sports and side projects, the former Minister of Youth and Sports insists that being busy is no excuse for neglecting parliamentary duties. He follows a principle of integrating personal and professional responsibilities effectively.
Syed Saddiq shared details of his daily routine, explaining that he uses time before and during parliamentary sessions to maintain his physical and mental fitness. He said he often exercises at the Parliament gym or jogs and cycles at Taman Tasik Perdana early in the morning, then returns to the parliamentary gym before attending sessions.
This disciplined approach has enabled him not only to maintain full attendance but also to actively contribute to debates, recording over 650 speeches and constructive proposals to date.
Regarding his extracurricular activities, such as modeling and participating in international running events, Syed Saddiq views these as part of his creative efforts to support his service in Muar. These activities also help raise funds for the Muar Constituency Service Centre.
He highlighted that the key to success for a young MP lies in managing time wisely and integrating health and professional responsibilities without compromising parliamentary duties. “As long as we manage our time well and integrate everything, Insya-Allah, everything will run smoothly,” he said.
Syed Saddiq’s perfect attendance has recently gone viral on social media, earning widespread praise alongside his active participation in triathlons and marathons.
