Newborn Girl Found Dead, Wrapped in Plastic Behind Shah Alam Supermarket

Date:

The body of a newborn baby girl was discovered wrapped in plastic in a back alley behind a supermarket in Section 25 here early this morning.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said authorities were alerted at about 7am following a report from a member of the public. Police officers were immediately dispatched to the location.

“Initial investigations suggest that the baby was delivered elsewhere before being abandoned at the site,” he said in a statement today.

The infant’s body has been sent to the forensic unit at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Police are appealing to anyone with information related to the incident to contact the investigating officer, Insp Ahmad Mokhsin Abdul Rahman, at 011-1755 4394.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code.
